A Big Brother hopeful from North Shields has tried to win a place in the famous house by turning up for an audition topless.

Aerobics instructor Hazel Summerson tried to catch the attention of judges by painting the Big Brother eye on her bare chest, the Sunday Mirror reports.

The 34-year-old mother-of-two was one of hundreds of hopefuls auditioning for the reality TV show at Newcastle United's St James's Park.

"It's a bit nippy but it will be worth it if I get a place," said Hazel before her audition.

Others among those auditioning appear to have been influenced by the nudity, which caused controversy during the last series of Big Brother.

BT worker Graeme Bruce, 29, travelled down to the Newcastle auditions dressed only in a kilt.

The determined hopeful said: "I went to Edinburgh last week and if I don't get through today I will go to Birmingham."
