Big Brother producers have revealed that housemates will get a surprise on Sunday night when a new arrival enters the house.

The mystery person will enter the reality TV house during the hour-long screening of the show from 21:00 GMT, following the departure of Irish model Orlaith on Saturday.

The newcomer, who will join remaining contestants Anthony, Craig, Derek, Eugene and Makosi in the house, will be eligible to win the Big Brother cash prize - a point which could cause friction with the other long-stay housemates.

Programme bosses also confirmed that the new arrival will be able to nominate and be nominated for eviction by their fellow housemates as they battle it out to win this years series of the reality show.

It remains to be seen whether the new housemate will be given a warm welcome from Derek, still fuming after Orlaith walked out of the Big Brother house following Kemals eviction on Friday.

"She showed scant regard for the support that was obviously there," Derek raged in a diary room rant to Big Brother, in which he confessed he was missing Turkish student Kemal.

"She gave up a place in the house that could have been occupied by someone else, or meant Kemal would stay," he added.
