Barnfield Road, which links Trent Valley Road and Thistley Hough has been officially made an access only road in a bid to prevent motorists from stopping on yellow zig-zags as they drive their children to school. Staffordshire Police is using a council CCTV car, which is parked on the road, to catch violators. So far, eight motorists have been fined for ignoring the restrictions imposed outside the school.
PC Barry Joynson said: “We managed to get a restriction on Barnfield to make it access-only because up to 80 cars were going up and down in the morning and then again at night.
“The majority of people now adhere to the signs but some don’t.
“I know the school has sent out letters around the issues in the area.
“I know concerns and complaints about parking have been made by residents.”
Ward councillor Randy Conteh said to The Sentinel: “Today (March 29th) has been a success as we have had a good turnout from the police and the council.
“I also made a point of speaking to drivers using the drop-off point to thank them for using it.
