Avril Lavigne and Nickelback Star Chad Kroeger engaged after dating for six months

Avril Lavigne has obviously moved on from ex Brody Jenner. The Complicated singer is now reportedly engaged to beau Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. 

 

The two have only been dating for six months, but they seem to be determined to head down the aisle. Lavigne’s own representative came out to confirm the engagement, while the couple has also confirmed the news through their Twitter conversations.

 

Nickelback also penned an official message saying: “Congratulations Avril and Chad! Get all the details from @PeopleMag.” Avril, 27, retweeted the message, letting her 6 million followers in on the news. 

 

Reports say Chad, 37, proposed to Avril on August 8 with a 14-carat diamond ring. It will be Chad’s first marriage and the second for Avril, who wed Sum 41 rocker DeryckWhibley in 2006 at age 21. She eventually filed for divorce just three years after. She also had a relationship with Brody Jenner, Kim Kardashian’s stepbrother. They were together for two years before going their separate ways. Unfortunately for Brody, the news of the engagement spread on his 29th birthday.  

 

Chad is not without his own romantic history. Although he has never been married, he spent six years with Marianne Goriuk before they ultimately split up. 

 

According to an insider, ‘a romantic relationship blossomed’ as Lavigne and Kroeger ‘spent time writing (music) together’. Kroeger, who is ten years Lavigne’s senior, co-wrote a song for Avril’s upcoming fifth studio album. Their collaboration, however, has led to romance.
