Apple has gotten the green light to test 5G in the United States, putting us one step closer to the future of mobile technologies.
The FCC, which has recently opened up the commercial sales of certain 5G bands, issued a license to the tech giant, allowing it to conduct trials with 5G millimeter wave technology on 28 GHz and 39 GHz frequency bands.
US mobile carriers including Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are also making plans to offer consumer-wide 5G within the next two years or so.
5G is still a work in progress and experts agree that it will be rolled out not sooner than 2020. This gives Apple ample time to develop a 5G-compatible iPhone.
