Artistic artworks made by pupils from Portway and Vigo primary schools were showcased at the opening celebration of a new art exhibition.
Year 4 pupils from two Andover schools were delighted to see their artistic designs on display at Chapel Art Studios. The event brought together young artists, art lovers, local families and the leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Cllr Phil North into the gallery space in St Mary's Cemetary for a preview of the exhibition.
Kate Grover, the local artist who designed and curated the UnderEarth multi-sensory digital art exhibition, said:“The UnderEarth exhibition showcases the exciting intersection of art and technology. It is the culmination of four months of work from artists, pupils, teachers, poets, musicians, ecologists, conservationists and the curious and creative people of Andover who have come together to learn and create.
“UnderEarth has been a truly collaborative project made possible by its many participants who kindly shared their enthusiasm and expertise.
“The success of the workshops with Year 4 pupils at Portway and Vigo, during which my mentee Tina and I worked alongside pupils and teachers alike, highlights how accessible digital skills have become and the work produced is inspiring and engaging, demonstrating how digital tools can serve young people’s imaginations and add real value to the curriculum.”
