5G Plans for Oxford City Council
CK Hutchison Networks submits plans to build a new 5G mast to Oxford City Council.
23:01 23 May 2022
CK Hutchison Networks UK Ltd has formally submitted an application to build a 5G mast in Barton Lane, Headington.
In application documents, the firm said that the new 5G mast is needed to address the "acute need for a new base station" in order to provide effective service coverage in the area because existing ones are currently not equipped to extend the signal coverage. The firm added that the proposed pole is the minimum required to bring 5G to the area and as such, would 'assimilate well into the immediate street scene and not be detrimental'.
5G is the next-generation mobile network that promises higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, more reliability, ultra low latency, increased availability and massive network capacity. Because of the improved efficiency, the technology has the capability to empower new user experiences and connect new industries.
