Amazon and Google Cross Platform Services

Amazon and Google to provide on-demand video services to each other's TV platforms.

Amazon and Google has put an end to their long-running dispute that started in 2015 and have agreed to provide both their on-demand video services to each other’s platforms. This means that Amazon’s Prime Video app will be made available on Chromecast dongles and is coming to Android-powered televisions and set-top boxes while Google will launch an official YouTube app for Fire TV devices.

 

 

 

The dispute started after Amazon declined to sell Google’s Chromecast products on its online store. Google responded by pulling YouTube off Amazon’s Echo Show smart screens and subsequently from Fire TV range.

 

 

 

In December 2018, Amazon decided to restock Chromecast products and in April 2019, the two sides signed an agreement to provide each other access to their respective video services.
