A recent study conducted by USwitch has revealed the streets in the UK with slowest and fastest broadband speeds.
Birmingham’s Abdon Avenue has landed on top of the list of streets with fastest, reliable broadband connection. It boasts an average speed of 265.89Mbps. Meanwhile, the street with the slowest average speed is Greenmeadows Park where homes averaged just 0.14 Mbps. This means that while users on Abdon Avenue are able to download a full HD movie in less than 30 minutes, those living in Greenmeadows Park have to wait for seven days to download the same digital content.
Five of the country’s fastest streets are located in the South West – Wiltshire, Cornwall, Dorset and Devon. Meanwhile, nine of the slowest streets are in the areas north of the River Mersey, including Scotland, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, South Yorkshire and North Yorkshire.
Reacting on the results of the test, Thinkbroadbrand's editor Andrew Ferguson said that they are “misleading.”
"They need to distinguish between slow streets and streets that are slow because no-one has upgraded," commented Thinkbroadbrand's editor Andrew Ferguson.
"Essentially the study is great PR for uSwitch's website but is poorly researched," he said.
