Bug-eating enthusiast and chef Andy Holcroft opens a new restaurant where customers are served grasshopper, crickets, mealworms, and other insects.
Grub Kitchen, which is located in Pembrokeshire, southwest Wales, intends to make people think twice about their food. Menu includes Grub’s signature bug burgers, a blend of toasted crickets, mealworms, grasshopper, spinach, sundried tomato, and seasonings. The restaurant also serves insect tasting board, cricket falafels and worm pad Thai curry.
The Grub Kitchen's website says: "It is widely estimated that there will be between 9-10 billion of us humans by the year 2050.
"Edible insects and the mini-livestock market are an emerging market in the west with the scientific research councils starting to implement government funding into the investment for the feasibility of breeding human grade edible insects."
Andy added: “Kids love the edible insects - they don’t have that fear factor.
“I wouldn’t expect everyone to like them, in the same way I wouldn’t expect everyone to like fish or mushrooms or pork.”
