5G Brighton Dome
Brighton Dome to be equipped with 5G technology.
20:47 12 May 2019
Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival is working together with Digital Catapult to bring 5G technology to performance, arts and cultural venues in the United Kingdom.
Plans include the development of ideas for the integration of 5G technology into the venues, such as live streaming performances in high quality and real time as well as allowing audiences to engage and interact with artists.
The 5G network will be initially deployed in Brighton Dome’s Founder’s Room and Foyer to allow Brighton-based small businesses, community groups and artists to test and develop new 5G-enabled applications.
Jeremy Silver, CEO, Digital Catapult said: “5G is expected to be rolled out across the UK later this year, but we’re still very much in the black and white television era of this technology. To be in with a chance of entering technicolour, we need to test the network’s capabilities and enable businesses and users to prepare for the opportunity it presents. Brighton is renowned for being a centre of creativity and increasingly technology. It is our mission at Digital Catapult to bring these two worlds together to accelerate innovation in both for the benefit of the UK economy.”
