X Factor act sent home
Latest hopeful gets the chop after tense sing-off...
10:12 28 November 2011
Flame-haired Janet Devlin has become the latest act to be eliminated from The X Factor.
The 17-year-old was voted off the ITV competition after ending up in the bottom two alongside Misha B.
Devlin chose a cover of Snow PatrolÂ’s Chasing Cars for her sing-off performance, but it was Misha BÂ’s version FameÂ’s Out Here on My Own that won the judges over.
Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos both chose to save Misha B due to her "potential" away from the show.
With two judges already voting to send Janet home, it was up to Kelly Rowland to save one of her acts from the axe.
Instead she chose to abstain from the vote, which meant that the Irish singer was sent packing just two weekÂ’s before the grand finale.
The DestinyÂ’s Child singer said:
"I really can't make a decision. I love these girls, I don't know what to do. I can't [vote], I have to pass it, I'm sorry."
Head Judge Gary Barlow then confirmed that he too would have sent Devlin home.
Speaking after the result, Devlin told host Dermot that she was "obviously very confused" by the judges' vote, adding:
"I just can't wait to get out of the show and start getting my music out and start working on it. It's exciting."
The X Factor returns to ITV1 next Saturday at 8pm.
