Wyre City Council is encouraging members of the community to do their share in making their own areas a safer place by monitoring the CCTV cameras based at Wyre Civic Centre in Poulton. The council says that such action can help in improving the sense of security in the area and prevent crime. It is also an opportunity for members of the public to meeting new people.
Coun. Lynne Bowen Leisure, Health and Community Engagement Portfolio Holder at Wyre Council, said: “We really value the time that our volunteers give up to help serve our community.
“There is such a diverse range of services that we provide and we want to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers, both past and present that have contributed to provide such a brilliant service across our departments.”
The role is described as varied and working times are flexible. This means that successful applicants can work in the day or night, on a weekday or weekend. Applicants will be subjected to vetting and a training period. Interested parties may contact the volunteer coordinator at (01253) 887504 or email volunteering@wyre.gov.uk.
