Wrexham Council is encouraging all residents to reach out to friends and family membrs using available technology as the UK enters the fourth week of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. The move aims to help everybody fight loneliness brought on by isolation and social distancing protocols that are currently in place.
A spokesman for Wrexham Council said: "While we often say that people need to spend less time on their technology, now is the time when it could save the day.
"Whether you are using WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Zoom, House Party or any of the many other apps available for video calling, there are so many ways to keep in touch - so many of us are doing it already and it can be a lifeline for people who are on their own or are away from their families.
The council is also sharing a page on their website with information on how residents can get started if they haven't already.
The spokesman added: "It has guides on setting up lots of different video calling apps, which also let you chat as a group, as well as updates about Coronavirus, advice from the Samaritan and Age Concern.
