A 40,000-piece jigsaw puzzle that was put together by Dave Evans from Weymouth for five weeks, has collapsed leaving him with the task of putting it together just days before it is due to go on display at Sandringham.
The 19ft 6in by 8ft jigsaw puzzle, which features 33 images of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, was made for a world record attempt. Mr. Evans believes that the jigsaw will enter the Guinness World records as the largest jigsaw puzzle once it has been formally accredited.
Talking about the collapse, reportedly Mr. Evans said that the puzzle, which was resting at an angle on a frame in his workshop, moved slightly. Efforts were understood to have been made to rectify this, but in the end the puzzle collapsed into pieces.
