Workaholic 58-year-old Paul O’Grady was rushed to the hospital and is due to have surgery following an angina attack.
The Lily Savage star, who has had two full-blown heart attacks, has reportedly told friends his plans to take time off amid concerns that he has been overworking. Michael Ball replaced him on his early ITV show earlier in the week.
In a text message, Paul told pal Peter Price: “I have had an angina attack and I will need a few days rest.
"I am going to be out of the game for quite a while.”
Meanwhile, Mr Price said: “He has been overdoing it.
"He has just come back from Africa doing some work for a new TV show next year, and then there are all his animals and all the other things he does.”
Another friend said that Mr O’Grady has a punishing schedule. “He is doing so many shows at the moment it is not surprising his body has again told him to slow down.
"I hope he takes notice this time, for his own sake, but I am not sure he will.”
