Work to build a 5G mast in Witham St Hughs has been temporarily stopped after council officers missed the deadline to oppose it.
Mobile network Three, the firm behind the project, confirmed that the hole that had been dug for the structure has been filled as they await "consent from the Highways Authority to open the road to enable us to build the mast."
North Kesteven District Council, which has previously rejected the 5G mast proposals, has raised fresh concerns about the project together with Lincolnshire County Council. District Council officers rejected the permission for the 18m monopole in Warren Lane but the decision "was made beyond the extended deadline".
an NKDC spokesperson said "Work on the 5G telecommunications mast footings has been instructed to pause at this time, following concerns around the impact of the mast on the footpath and cycleway.
"North Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire County Council as the highways authority will seek to continue to liaise together with the operator on the matter and next steps."
