WiFi Mesh Networking
Why your next Wi-Fi setup should be a mesh network.

If you’re thinking about upgrading your Wi-Fi equipment, consider investing in so-called mesh system, which can offer you the most effective solutions to your Wi-Fi problems. The system is composed of multiple Wi-Fi stations that piggyback on one another so you do not lose signal even when you move away from the main source. By creating a continuous wireless link throughout your home, the system minimizes dead zones.
The first mesh system was released by start-up Eero last year and in a matter of months, bigger brands like Google and D-link have followed suit.
Mesh wi-fi systems include intuitive smartphone apps designed to make the process of managing your network easier and convenient. They also better accommodate a shift in how people use technology today. With various devices in different parts of the house, mesh networks offer better and stronger Wi-Fi coverage so there are no dead spots. This means no more moving closer to your router while fixing your car in the garage or cooking your meals in the kitchen.
“It’s really nice to see the router vendors doing something that is properly useful for once,” said Dave Fraser, the chief executive of Devicescape, a tech company that helps make public Wi-Fi networks more reliable for mobile phone service. “It’s like they’ve finally realised it’s human beings buying these products rather than I.T. staff.”
