WiFi Certified Vantage
WiFi Certified Vantage program to address quality issues.
19:24 14 September 2017
The Wi-Fi Alliance has recently released two big feature additions to the “WiFi Certified Vantage” program to address quality issues and make Wi-Fi technology work a lot more like a cellular service.
The Wi-Fi Alliance ‘Wi-Fi Agile Multiband’ has been designed to intelligently steer devices to specific bands and APs as well as establish coordination between devices and the best network to use in order to shorten connection time. This feature addresses the problem of staying connected to a Wi-Fi AP located too far away by transitioning the connection to AP positioned closer.
The other feature, called ‘Wi-Fi Optimised Connectivity’ has been designed to minimise the time needed to connect to a Wi-Fi network. This is achieved through the optimisation of the network discovery process and prioritising channel scans.
To make Wi-Fi work more like a cellular service, 802.11ax is also to be added to the next generation Wi-Fi. This is a new mobility enhancement feature that will eliminate contention altogether.
The Wi-Fi Alliance’s first ax products, including the first chipsets and routers, have already hit the market.
