Wi-Fi Passwords
iOS 11 puts an end to typing Wi-Fi passwords.
09:17 13 June 2017
Apple’s iOS 11 will allow users to scan the QR code on the router to connect to the network. It also has a function that allows users to send their Wi-Fi password to another device – the password will automatically fill the field and connect.
When users line up the reader with the QR code, the system pushes a notification that asks if they would like to join the network. With just a simple tap, users will be able to connect their device to Wi-Fi.
The function, which is not compatible to older smartphones, is expected to benefit establishments, such as airports and restaurants that offer Wi-Fi connection.
iOS 11 will no longer support 32-bit apps, which means some of the current applications will stop working if the user decides to upgrade. This action has been mentioned in the iOS 10.3 beta, which read: 'This app will not work with future versions of iOS. The developer of this app needs to update it to improve its compatibility.'
Apple has launched a range of new products at a conference in San Jose, California this week. It also gave viewers a sneak peek into its upcoming software release.
