If you are hosting an event - then of course you want to ensure that your audience is having a great night and want it to be a success. Ideally, you will leave a lasting impression and have guests remember your brand or business. A host goes a long way to making that happen. Here we talk about some of the reasons why it’s important to choose wisely when selecting someone to host your event.
They Can Gain Immediate Exposure for your Brand/Business
A high-profile professional host can be great for building your brand. When you are making your choice, make sure you have a good Google search and see if they have been in any PR publications, or had any other media coverage that could potentially benefit you. You will also want to check that it is coming from a positive place, and there is nothing negative that could damage your brand! You should also check their social media following and engagement levels. If you have a host that can promote your business well, then it can give your event additional exposure.
They will Set the Tone for the Evening
The host is usually the one that opens proceedings at an event. They will be one of the first faces your guests see. As such, you need to make sure you choose someone who will leave a positive lasting impression. Otherwise it will see a bad tone for the evening and things could go from bad to worse. Make sure your evening starts off with a bang with a great entrance from the host.
They will be Representing your Company Mission and Values
All businesses have or should have a core mission and values attached to their brand. The host you choose will effectively be a representative of those for that day/evening. You need to make sure they fully understand what you are about and what you stand for and have the same values as you. That will ensure that everything is authentic within the event. This should be part of the original discussions when agreeing fees and expectations.
They will be the Ones that Engage the Audience
No matter what the event is regarding, you need to make sure the audience or guests are engaged. That means, not only will they listen to what would potentially be content for entertainment value, but informative content about your company and be interested in it. All eyes will be on the host for the majority of the evening - so it’s critical you choose someone with some charisma and who has the ability to hold the audience’s attention. Don’t be scared to ask them questions surrounding the years of experience they have.
If you are preparing an event, make sure you take the time to fully research the host that you are getting to participate. They could be integral to growing your business and making the event a success.
