Who Is Lady C?

Lady C retains the name of her ex, Lord Colin Campbell, despite her marriage lasting just over a year.

Lady Colin Campbell had asked to be called Lady C when she entered the I'm A Celebrity jungle. Although she goes by the name Georgie to her friends and family, she retains the name of her ex, Lord Colin Campbell when in public. This is despite the fact that their marriage lasted just over a year. 

 

The Jamaican-born writer married her now ex-husband just five days after they met. They divorced in 1975.

 

Following the divorce, she claimed that her husband, who is the son of the 11th Duke of Argyll, was a violent alcoholic and drug addict.

 

Her ex then sold stories to newspapers saying she was a transsexual.

 

Lady C previously had genital corrective surgery after genital malformation led to her being registered at birth as a boy.

 

“It made something into an issue that was no longer an issue" she said.

 

“Colin just couldn’t stand the fact that I was leaving him.”

 

“Before then everyone in my social circle knew that I had had an unusual upbringing.

 

“Of course, before we were married, I made sure I told him. And besides, he had lived in Jamaica, where everyone knew. But I did not want my private life in the gutter press.”
