Stringify, an IFTTT-like app designed to control and automate smart home devices, was acquired by Comcast last fall. Its now relaunching its app, which features a new look and feel as well as deeper integrations with Comcast’s services and support for new hardware devices.
Stringify was acquired as part of Comcast’s growing efforts to win the growing competition in the fields of smart home and the Internet of Things. It is the key that the company needs not only to compete with popular voice platforms, such as Amazon Echo, Google Home and Apple’s HomePod, it will also play a crucial role in better positioning its own service, such as TV and internet, as essential pieces to the smart home experience.
Stringify is now integrated with Comcast’s TV platform and xFi, the company’s personalised home WiFi offering, allowing Comcast users to connect their smart home devices to their TVs as well as create their own automated routines.
Sri Solur, Senior Vice President, Xfinity Home and IoT Products, Comcast Cable, said: “What we love about the Stringify app is that it has a tremendous community of smart, devoted users who are on the leading edge of automation technology. So, the development we do here plays a big role in our broader effort to create powerful new home automation experiences for our Xfinity customers.”
