Preparing home-cooked meals can be an elaborate feat for a lot of people. Although cookbooks and instructional YouTube videos are abound, many still find cooking to be a tad intimidating. This creates the need for smart cooking gadgets that aim to make you a better cook without going out there to get a culinary degree.
An example of these gadgets is called June, a countertop oven that identifies whatever you’re cooking and automatically sets a cook time and temperature so you don’t ever have to worry about under or overcooking your meals. Matt Van Horn, the cofounder of June that created the product, said that this level of hands-free meal prep encourages people to cook complicated meals that they were too afraid to even try previously.
Another smart cooking gadget that is worth your money is called Paragon, a svelte cooktop that uses a probe to keep your pan at an absurdly consistent temperature. Its dedicated app alerts you when it is time to flip your breaded chicken cutlet.
Larry Portaro, director of FirstBuild, the company behind the cooktop, says. "By having a product that can provide repeatable results, it will give people courage in the kitchen. It takes all that stress away as a user; you can dial in a direct temperature, and we'll hold it there for you as you cook."
