With so many wonderful countries just a short flight or boat ride away, Europe tours can be a great way to explore a new city and spend some quality time with the one you love. Here are some of the best destinations for a Valentine’s Day trip.
Paris
Known as the city of love, France’s capital is a must-visit for the romantics among you. Whether you’re planning a proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower or simply want to take a trip to the top and see the sparkling lights of Paris twinkling below, Paris is truly a city for lovers.
You can stroll hand-in-hand along the Seine or take one of the many boat trips on offer, catch a glimpse of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre or see a show at the Moulin Rouge. After all that sightseeing, what could be better than a romantic dinner for two at one of the city’s many mouthwatering restaurants? With bistros, brasseries and Michelin-starred fine dining establishments to choose from, you’re sure to find something to match your tastes and budget.
Venice
This city on water has an undeniably romantic charm. With its unique blend of architecture and over 400 bridges, Venice is the perfect spot for a Valentine’s Day escape.
Take a gondola ride along the canals with your partner - you can even pay your gondolier to serenade you along the way! Be sure to pass beneath the Bridge of Sighs, as it's said that those who kiss beneath this 17th-century bridge will find eternal love and happiness!
Copenhagen
The Danish city of Copenhagen is perfect for a romantic weekend break. Here you’ll find the statue of Hans Christian Anderson’s the Little Mermaid on a rock by the Langelinie promenade, where she sits eternally pining for her human love.
Just North of the city, you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride through Dyrehaven Woods where you might spot the large herds of free-ranging deer.
Alternatively, you could cosy up at one of Copenhagen’s many boutique coffee shops, where you’ll soon get acquainted with the Danish concept of hygge.
Reykjavik
Lean into February’s wintery weather and take a trip to Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik. If you’re a couple who loves adventure, there are stunning National Parks to explore and plenty of activities for you and your partner to enjoy, including whale-watching boat rides, volcanic tours and horseback riding. Or relax in one of the geothermal spas, like the famous Blue Lagoon.
February is also an excellent time of year to catch the Northern Lights and admire one of the world’s greatest wonders. Plus, the weather is the perfect excuse to snuggle up under a blanket in front of a roaring fire and toast a glass of the local brew, Brennivin. Skal!
