Web debut for Star Wars teaser

The first trailer for the new Star Wars film is released online next week.

The first trailer for the new Star Wars film, Revenge of the Sith, is released online next week.

Fans in the US were able to watch the teaser on TV yesterday.

Episode III is the final film in George Lucas' series of prequels and sees Anakin Skywalker seduced by the dark side of the Force.

Episodes I and II were both panned by the critics for relying to heavily on computer generated special effects.

Nonetheless, excitement is growing ahead of the release of Revenge of the Sith, which is likely to be the last Star Wars film after Lucas said he would be too old to make the three sequels to his original trilogy.

The trailer will be available to subscribers of AOL's Hyperspace fan site this weekend before going on general release on the web next week.

Early reports suggest that the sneak preview of Episode III contains some explosive action scenes and a first look at Anakin Skywalker's more familiar guise, Darth Vader.
