Waveney CCTV Provision
Waveney District Council meet as part of a comprehensive review of the CCTV provision.
18:06 30 January 2018
The mayor of Lowestoft, Ian Graham, and deputy mayor, Peter Knight has met with Waveney MP Peter Aldous, Waveney Norse – who currently operate the CCTV system – and Waveney District Council as part of a comprehensive review of the CCTV provision.
The Lowestoft Town Council has organised a major community meeting to discuss the details of the project. It will take place at the Riverside offices on February 06.
Council, Shona Bendix, Lowestoft Town Council clerk, said: “Part of the process is establishing public opinion of these assets and services. As a town council we had no say in what was transferred but we are determined to ensure appropriate improvements and efficiencies.
“Given the enormity of the CCTV contract, we will be holding a special public meeting.”
The public meeting aims to address a number of issues raised, including the quality of CCTV equipment and the best locations for the cameras.
Waveney’s CCTV network was first installed in 1998. It has since undergone a major update with over £190,000 spent on building and equipping a new control room at the Waveney Norse depot in Rotterdam Road.
