Wasted CCTV Resources in London
It appears that 75 CCTV cameras that have been handed to the London MET Police will never be switched on, despite being in terror risk areas.

Although £1.5 million of taxpayers' money was used to purchase access to these networks, the cameras have not been turned on, although it has been stated that 64 new cameras will be installed. The location yet is not confirmed. These new cameras will be used on a "needs," basis and will not be monitored 24/7.
A result of this is that some victims of crime are finding themselves unable to pursue action against the persecutor, due to lack of CCTV evidence.
As the level of terror threat in London remains as "severe," the fact that the cameras cover areas such as Oxford Street, the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace, is a bit concerning and as of yet the Police have not explained why the cameras remain off.
David Vidicette, former counter terror detective said that in his opinion this was "utterly ridiculous."
According to a spokesperson for the MET Police, there are many CCTV systems covering the City of Westminster and police can use mobile CCTV when required.
Of the 64 cameras to be installed, so far 11 have been fitted.
