Warner Brothers Reports Own Website

Warner Bros has reported its own website citing copyright violation.

Film studio Warner Brothers has reported its own website to Google saying it violates copyrights law. It asked the search giant to remove links to legitimate movie streaming websites run by Sky and Amazon.

 

The requests were made by Vobile, a video copyright tracking firm. In one of its requests, it asked Google to remove links for films such as Batman: The Dark Knight and The Matrix from the official website. Sky Cinema and Amazon were also reported for copyright infringement.

 

Ernesto van de Sar, from news blog Torrent Freak, was the first to spot the “glaring errors.”

 

He said: "Warner is inadvertently trying to make it harder for the public to find links to legitimate content, which runs counter to its intentions," 

 

He then added: "Unfortunately these kind of errors are very common.”

 

"Piracy monitoring firms often use automated systems to find and report copyright infringing websites.

 

"I'm fairly certain that this happened here as well, considering the obvious mistakes that were made.

 

"A good approach would be to white-list non-infringing sources such as warnerbros.com and amazon.com - but apparently that didn't happen."
