Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is an exciting technology that allows you to maximise your Internet connection to save a significant amount of money when making international calls. It works by placing telephone calls over the Internet using a regular telephone that is connected to a VoIP router or directly through your computer using a headset microphone.

 

Perhaps, the biggest benefits that VoIP calls can offer is it allows users to purchase a phone number in another country. This means that it is possible for you to have a British telephone number even if you’re outside of the country so you can call your relatives and loved ones back home without being charged exorbitant amount for each call.

 

VoIP calling plans are either pay-as-you-go or subscription-based. Many providers charge a flat monthly fee for VoIP calls that does not include international calls, which are charged separately at rates that vary with each country.

 

One of the most used VoIP services is Skype, which does not charge users a monthly fee. Users can call their friends and loved ones who are also using Skype for free. However, they are charged for each international call they make. The rate can be as cheap as a penny a minute to certain countries.
