Voice Activated Playlist for Cars
Spotify to launch voice-activated music playlist for cars.
13:27 12 April 2018
Spotify has announced on Friday that it will make a surprise news announcement in New York later this month. If rumours circulating the tech world are any indication, the announcement may turn out to be the launching of an Amazon Alexa-powered voice recognition tool that will play Spotify playlist in cars.
The rumours started in February when Reddit users posted screenshots from their music app showing a pre-order for an in-car device. It was thought at that time that the advertisement was released by Spotify by mistake.
The device is believed to work the same way that Siri does. It is expected to feature voice recognition tech to carry out functions, such as change music or playlists from a user’s Spotify account. When it finally hits the market, customers may have the option to pay a monthly fee of £12.99 or pay a one-off fee of $155.
Many manufacturers are already offering voice recognition services in their cars, including BMW and Mini, which will integrate Amazon Alexa into all their new cars starting this year. The service will allow users to switch and interact with services using their voice.
