Terrifying postmistress Viv Windsor is set to make the Dales come alive with the sound of gossip when she is held by customs officials on her way back from the Caribbean.

Viv, played by Deena Payne, is caught with cannabis in her bag, and ex-husband Bob Hope has to return to Emmerdale to explain what's happened.

A show insider told the Daily Star: "Viv and Bob decided to get away from it all and take a romantic sun-drenched break.

"But after a blissful time in paradise something was bound to go wrong and it did."

It turns out that acid-tongued, high heel-wearing Viv wasn't trying to smuggle dope back in to the country, although some might have appreciated it if she calmed down a bit.

Instead, it turns out that it's all a terrible case of misplaced luggage and mistaken identity. So Viv returns in a rage and all the good effects of a Caribbean holiday disappear in an instant.
