Convicted killer Stuart Horner has staged a protest on top of Strangeways prison apparently for not being able to call his mum. The 34-year-old scaled an 18ft fence to access the roof of the high security jail on Sunday afternoon.
Horner was heard shouting: "Tell my mum I'm alright." He added: "We want to be able to ring our families. It's a joke."
A woman, whose son is also in jail, agreed with Horner saying: "I'm not surprised it has come to this. The conditions in there are appalling. My son has been in several prisons and he says this is the worst of the lot."
Under The Sea
Becoming a mermaid is no longer a dream for young girls; it is now a full time job for more than 1,000 individuals in the US alone.
Once just a fantasy mostly for young girls, becoming a mermaid is now a full time job for about 1,000 individuals composed of entertainers, trainers, and designers.
Rachel Smith, head of mermaid at Dive Bar (a mermaid theme lounge in Sacramento), said that mermaids swim with their legs tied together, in tails that can weigh up to 35 pounds.
"It’s really hard, which is something I don't think people fully understand, because we want it to look so effortless," Smith said.
Mermaids are typically hired for birthday parties with some working for celebrities such as model and freediver Linden Wolbert who has been hired by Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, and Shia LaBeouf and who charges $250 for children’s events.
Meanwhile, makers of fish tail are also raking good money, with Fin Fun (one of the largest brands on the market) selling up to 50,000 tails per month. Others who have joined the field are mermaid trainers who make money by teaching new recruits.
