Ultrafast Broadband for Southwell

100% fibre optic ultrafast internet coming to Southwell.

Fibre Heroes is investing £2.1million to bring 100% fibre optic ultrafast internet to Southwell residents. Once live, the service will enable download speeds that are 20 times faster than the national average of 1Gbps. 

The scheme is in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council.

County councillor Keith Girling, cabinet member for economic development and asset management at the county council, said: “We understand how vital digital connectivity is to modern life.

"We want to ensure that Nottinghamshire’s infrastructure meets the needs of residents and businesses in the county who require a reliable and fast internet connection in their daily lives.

“It’s fantastic to see Fibre Heroes’ progress in Southwell since their announcement to build in the town in the summer.

"It highlights the confidence the telecoms sector has in Nottinghamshire as a place to invest and will support the region to become an increasingly desirable place to live and work.”

Head of public procurement and engagement at Fibre Heroes, Matt Smith, said: “We are really excited to be rolling out our gigabit capable broadband network in Southwell.

"We’ve been building in Retford for a few months and residents there will soon be able to choose ultrafast broadband services from a long list of providers.
