The Met office has stated that the UK will see “an unsettled, cold and often windy" week with severe storm winds and a risk of snow and ice particularly in the north of Britain.
The Met Office said: "Accumulating snow may lead to travel disruption on routes over high ground, whilst icy stretches are also likely to form more generally on untreated surfaces.
"The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to travel"
As the week goes on, temperatures will plummet and the weather will become "horrendous".
A spokesperson continued: “Rain is then expected to push through from Thursday into Friday, with slight uncertainties continuing on a windy theme"
Emergency services are still attenting to the aftermath of numerous road incidents on the A9 in Scotland caused by strong winds, ice and snow.
Further icy patches will appear throughout the week while the worst affected region will be Scotland. A Met Office spokesperson told the Evening Standard that “across the tops of the Scottish mountains it will be pretty horrendous”.
