UK Government 5G Reality by 2027
The UK Government will invest £6.8 billion to make 5G a reality in 2027.

A recent report released by the UK Government outlines £600 billion investment in national infrastructure, £6.8billion of which will be spent on making sure full 5G coverage by 2033.
Over the next three years, the Government is set to launch various projects and programmes to realise nationwide full fibre coverage by 2033 and 5G deployment by 2027.
The report reveals that the government will provide £700 million of new investment while the rest will be sourced from public-private partnerships and private investments.
Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, Robert Jenrick, said: “We are committed to renewing our infrastructure to drive economic growth in all parts of the United Kingdom,”
“Over the course of this Parliament, investment in economic infrastructure will reach the highest sustained levels in over 40 years. And as the pace of technological change accelerates, we are stepping up our commitment to digital infrastructure, use of data to drive greater productivity and embrace new methods of construction.”
Projects that have been identified on the report include Virgin Media’s Project Lightning, the 700 MHz Clearance Programme and BDUK’s superfast broadband programme.
