18:21 06 April 2018
Sussex Police, BT Redcare and East Sussex Highways are working together to upgrade Uckfield’s CCTV system. The new state-of-the-art CCTV cameras will produce HD images and will provide a direct feed to Sussex Police.
Cllr. Louise Eastwood, the Mayor of Uckfield, has confirmed the updates in the annual review of the year 2017/18. She said: ‘We are pleased to see progress made towards upgrading the town centre’s CCTV system. The Town Council has been working with Sussex Police, BT Redcare and East Sussex Highways to arrange for the installation of a new system. The new HD cameras will provide a direct feed to Sussex Police Headquarters in Lewes and enable better footage to be captured. Uckfield Chamber of Commerce has also joined the partnership and will be funding the installation and care of one camera at the western end of Bellbrook Industrial Estate’
Meanwhile, president of the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce, Chris Lawson said that they are pleased to be part of the project.
He explained: “Uckfield Chamber of Commerce have been working closely with the Town Council for many months on the necessity for an upgrade in the town’s CCTV. In conclusion, we have been pleased to support the expansion of Uckfield’s upgraded CCTV system by funding the installation and ongoing maintenance of an additional camera covering the western entrance to Bellbrook Industrial Estate. This will provide additional security to many Uckfield businesses including many Chamber members.”
