An 80-year-old former children’s TV presenter who was questioned by police officers investigating the Jimmy Savile scandal spent Christmas at a Priory mental health clinic. According to report, the man who cannot be named for legal reasons, is suffering from acute stress after he was told of the allegations against him.
It is believed that watching the TV veteran 24/7 is extremely important to avoid harming or worse, killing himself.
A source close to the man said: ‘He decided to seek treatment as everything has been very difficult since the police got in touch.
‘He’s adamant he has done nothing wrong. But that does not stop this being an incredibly stressful time.
'This would be a harrowing experience for anyone – let alone a man in his 80s. He is in a bad way, his family and friends are deeply concerned for his wellbeing.
‘Nobody close to him is taking any risks, he is a very ill man at the moment so is being treated at the highest level.’
He is not the only one arrested and questioned on suspicion of sex attacks. Other TV personalities who are included on the list are convicted paedophile Gary Glitter, Radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis, and comic Freddie Starr.
