Corrie's Tracy is upset enough when she and daughter Amy are almost run over - but then finds out that the driver is her long-lost dad.
Ray Langton returns to the Street after 27 years away expecting a tearful reunion, the Daily Star reports.
It all goes horribly wrong, however, because he is so busy wallowing in nostalgia that he almost runs over the daughter he abandoned all those years ago.
But as Tracy was aged only one when Ray, played by Neville Buswell, walked out on wife Deirdre he has no idea who she is.
His daughter, played by Kate Ford, has no clue who the driver is either - she is more concerned with ranting at him for dangerous driving.
It is only when Deirdre, played by Anne Kirkbride, arrives at the hospital where Ray has taken Tracy and Amy that the explosive secret is out.
She freezes when she recognises her dastardly ex-husband, leaving Tracy to ask: "What? Do you know this idiot?"
"Oh yes, Tracy love. I know him," Deirdre replied.
In the fury that follows, Ray keeps quiet the real reason for his return - that he is dying of an incurable disease.
But that doesn't stop the effects of his return, which include the cancellation of Deirdre's wedding to Ken Barlow, played by Bill Roache.
