Japan
One of the main reasons why we start with Japan is because much of Asia has been off-limits for some time. However, Japan is open for business in 2023 having fully removed travel restrictions in October 2022. There is so much to see and do in Japan and it is a wonderful country and great introduction to Asia if you have never been to the continent. Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, and island of Miyajima are just some of the places you can visit during a two week holiday in Japan. It is a fantastic country, both hi-tech and historical, with fabulous nature and Japan is one of the top destinations for a getaway in 2023.
Scottish Highlands
The Scottish Highlands are place of stunning beauty. With wonderful lochs, romantic castles, and spectacular scenery, there is so much to see that the best way to take it all in is via a road trip. Having obtained an international driving permit, you can hire a vehicle and make your own way around the Scottish Highlands. Starting in Glasgow, you can drive north to Oban and take a day trip to the Isle of Mull. From Oban, the drive to Fort William is terrific and from there you can visit the Isle of Skye. Cairngorms National Park and Trossachs National Park should also be included and a Scottish Highlands road trip is a top destination for a holiday in 2023.
Madagascar
For those with an interest in biodiversity, Madagascar should be top of your potential destinations for a getaway in 2023. From flora and fauna to birds and land animals, Madagascar is a special place to visit for those interested in nature. If you decide to take one of the many boat trips around Madagascar, not only will you be blessed with clear blue ocean for swimming but you can also participate in sports including diving and fishing. A boat trip will give you access to the remote white sand beaches and an opportunity to view the colourful coral reefs.
Marrakesh
Morocco is the perfect country for those wanting to visit North Africa for the first time and Marrakesh is the best place to stay. If you like browsing antique and handicraft stalls and shops, you will love strolling around the Jamaa el Fna market in the old Medina. There is plenty of choice when it comes to accommodation, from luxurious hotels to boutique riads and you can embark on several day trips from the city to see the Atlas Mountains, remote villages, waterfalls, and the ancient trading port of Essaouira, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you want a taste of North Africa in 2023, Marrakesh is a fascinating place to begin.
