Welsh rose Catherine Zeta Jones has said she wants to connect with her ugly side in a new role.

The beautiful brunette has reportedly asked "Monster" director Patty Jenkins for a role as a less-than-glamorous builder.

The Daily Mail reports that she was inspired by Charlize Theron's Oscar-winning performance as an unattractive serial killer in Jenkins' movie.

"Catherine is tired of her glamorous image and saw what an amazing job Patty did with Charlize - not least helping her win an Oscar," a movie insider told the paper.

She already has one Oscar in her trophy cabinet, however, having won a Best Supporting Actress gong in 2002 for her role in Chicago.
