Katie Holmes has filed for divorce after five years of marriage to Tom Cruise. The couple, worth an estimated $275 million have announced thier separation and also revealed that Katie Holmes is seeking sole custody of Suri, their daughter aged six.

Tom Cruise told reporters that he had not seen the divorce coming and is 'deeply saddened' with his wife's decision. 

Tom Cruise's spokesperson said: 'Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children.'

The actress filed documents in New York this week citing 'irreconcilable differences'.
