Tom Cruise admits Scientology may have caused Katie Holmes split

Tom Cruise has admitted that his devotion to Scientology may be one of the reasons why his marriage to Katie Holmes fell apart.

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has confirmed that his devotion to Scientology could have played a part in his divorce to Katie Holmes.

This revelation was made in a 36-page disposition transcript for the libel case he filed against two US magazines. He is suing In Touch and Life & Style for £31million in damages after the magazines have claimed that he abandoned his seven-year-old daughter, Suri.

Elizabeth McNamara asked the Oscar nominated film icon if Katie Holmes never indicated in any way that one of the reasons why she left him is because of his religion. The Mission Impossible star answered: “Did she say that? That was one of the assertions, yes.” He also confirmed that right now, Suri is no longer practicing Scientology.

During the exchange, McNamara asked why Tom did not see Suri for about 100 days from June 18 to Thanksgiving of 2012. The actor answered that during that time, it was impossible for him to see his daughter because he was filming. However he added that he was able to maintain relationship with his daughter by calling her almost everyday.

“I’ve gotten very good at it. I’ve gotten very good at it. I tell wonderful stories and they like hearing it.”
