As Tom and Katie’s team are gathering their resources for what is expected to be a complex custody battle between them, the Church of Scientology is also reportedly gathering its followers
together. The church is said to be sending panic e-mails to their members, giving them advice on how to deal with the negative press that the church is receiving after Katie filed for divorce and cited Tom’s desire to enroll Suri in the church’s intense boot camps as one of the main reasons behind the split.
The letter was sent after a ‘defector’ from the religion had predicted that the Katie and Tom divorce could just be the biggest nightmare in the history of the church. The defector said that if secrets regarding the church are revealed in court, a lot of drama could ensue.
The said ‘defector’ is Marty Rathbun, who has gone up to one of the top positions within the organization before leaving. Rathbun is now working as a counselor for people who decide to leave the church of Scientology and has also started a blog regarding the negative side of the religion.
On the blog, he posted an e-mail that was supposedly sent out from the church’s Office of Special Affairs. The letter suggested to Scientology members that it was time to take action against the false reports that have been circulating after Katie filed for divorce.
One of the suggestions as to how to deal with negative propaganda is to scan the web for any negative comments regarding the organization and to notify the website owners that these comments violate their code of conduct.
Rathbun also said that from his time in Scientology, he can conclude that Katie never fully committed herself to the religion.
