Erratic Young Ones star Ade Edmondson threw a strop on Comic Relief Fame Academy when organisers refused to let him sing in a straightjacket.
The 48-year-old comic, who has made it to the last four of the charity talent show, stormed out of a rehearsal and threatened to quit altogether if he didn't get his way.
Ade was forced to return with his tail between his legs when he found himself in a dead end corridor, the Sun reports, but the trick worked as BBC bosses agreed to his bizarre request.
When it came to the vote, the outspoken comic was saved from the boot by the judges with his rendition of I've Got You, Babe with Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman.
But Corrie actress Debra Stephenson had less luck and became the latest person to leave the show.
That leaves Ade, Edith, Top of the Pops presenter Reggie Yates and bookies' favourite Albert Square gal, Kim Medcalf.
The final of the show will be screened live tomorrow night on Red Nose Day, by which time organisers hope to have raised 1 million for charity from voters' telephone calls.
