Following the first celeb nude photo leak, it has emerged that thousands of Snapchat images and videos taken by the unsuspecting public (typically teenagers) have been released online following an epic breach.
It has been confirmed by The Daily Beast that photographs had been leaked online via viralpop.com.
Snapchat says that more than half of its user base is between 13 and 17 years old. This means that the recent photographic leak could be classed as child pornography.
It is estimated that around 90,000 photographs and 9,000 videos were leaked. The majority of them came from Europeans who account for 32per cent of Snapchat’s customers.
Snapchat has continuously denied responsibility for the leak, issuing a statement claiming: "We can confirm that Snapchat’s servers were never breached and were not the source of these leaks.
"Snapchatters were victimized by their use of third-party apps to send and receive Snaps, a practice that we expressly prohibit in our Terms of Use."
