Speculations on who will be chosen to play the character of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the erotic trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey continue. So far, fans of the series have their favorites, with Ryan Gosling coming out on top.
The odds of Gosling winning the part are 2/1, while Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder comes closely behind at 5/2. Irish/German actor Michael Fassbender is also in the running with odds of 3/1.
As for the female lead role of Anastasia Steele, Mila Kunis as Gosling’s counterpart has the highest odds of 3/1. Other options include Scarlett Johansson at 4/1, Elizabeth Olsen at 9/2, and Alexis Bledel at 5/1.
While the controversial novels have garnered divided opinion and even gaining the nickname ‘mummy porn’ courtesy of its sadomasochistic sex scenes and target audience, a film is now highly anticipated by its hordes of fans.
“The nation has gone 50 shades of crazy for the book, so it’s impossible to see how the film won’t be a success either,” says Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes.
Dr. Faye Skelton of the University of Lancashire has also created an e-fit of the appearance of the highly adored male lead. However, according to a poll on The Telegraph, 86% of readers do not agree with her interpretation of the character’s appearance. This indicates that people have varying yet equally strong feelings about the character.
