Glasgow-based developer Stephen McPhee, a well-known tech expert, is using augmented reality to bring newspapers to life. Starting tomorrow, readers of The Scottish Sun can use their phone to scan special codes on pages of the newspaper and see news come to life through related videos and we links.
Stephen, 62, says: “I’ve been about a long time and never been so excited about something.
“It will bring newspapers to life which will also encourage younger readers. It’s a game changer.”
Stephen has also developed his own company he calls LUMARTOS, which specialises in turning any picture into a watercolour
She said: “I’ve been working on this for three years but I’m only now at the point where it’s instant. I love the idea of bringing offline and online together.
“The frames started with images of Glasgow and have now built up to the point where I’m taking all sorts of requests.”
“You could use Zappar for books in every form of education. They could be in everyone’s home. Every kid has a phone nowadays and when they open a book they could scan it. The options are endless.”
