The Office the movie: Ricky Gervais confirms he's making a David Brent spin-off film

Ricky Gervais will make a David Brent spin-off film where his character will cash in on his pension pot to pay for musicians on his tour.

Ricky Gervais has confirmed that he’s making a David Brent spin-off film, Life On The Road. The film will showcase The Office character Brent’s life 15 years after leaving the company at the centre of the hit BBC Two workplace mockumentary show. 

 

Brent will cash in some of his pension pot and work as a travelling salesman financing a UK concert tour in the hopes of becoming a rock star.

 

Filming of the BBC movie is expected to start next year in the UK. It will be distributed worldwide as The Office was shown in more than 100 countries and has developed a strong international following with numerous remakes made in other nations. 

 

The film is expected to follow the mockumentary style that made The Office an instant hit. 

 

The Office was shown in the UK on BBC Two from 2001 – 2003. Gervais won several awards for his portrayal of Brent. After the show, he produced and starred in Extras and Derek. However, in 2013, he brought Brent back for a Comic Relief special.
