After almost 10 years since the last The Lord of the Rings film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, premiered in Wellington, New Zealand, and it was a huge success.
Based on the reports, there were approximately 100,000 fans who lined the sides of the streets. And it is understood that some of them were even wearing elaborate costumes to get a glimpse of their favorite actors.
Actress Cate Blanchett led the glamour as she walked the red carpet wearing a stunning red-white-black floor length gown. She was joined by no other than her number one fan, eight-year-old son Roman on the red carpet.
The rest of the A-list cast were all in attendance. Martin Freeman, Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, and Richard Armitage led the pack.
Sir Ian McKellen, who plays Gandalf, didn’t make it to the event but thanked the fans via a video message that was played to the crowd.
The actors spent approximately two hours on the 500metre red carpet as they greeted all their dressed up fans and spoke to reporters.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Prime Minister thanked the filmmakers for choosing Wellington as the place for the premiere.
